Griffin International Academy (GIA) is a vibrant, multicultural government-private
educational establishment in which international pupils form just over 12% of the total
student body. GIA staff and students enjoy a caring, friendly and happy atmosphere that
resonates throughout our school.
At GIA we strive to provide the highest quality global education to 5 - 18 year old
students through a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum. Helping our students
learning how to learn and taking full responsibility for their own learning is our
Although we fully understand that, like most schools, GIA will be judged by its
examination results, and rightly so, we firmly believe that good education is beyond
getting top grades, settling for the measurable over the valuable or aiming for the
quantitative over the qualitative. We promote a holistic and innovative approach to
education with the aim of equipping all student with the skills, principles and
experiences which will enable them to achieve their full academic, personal and social
Assessment forms the core of our teaching and learning policy. Our continuous
assessment system, whether summative, diagnostic or formative, enables us to track the
progress of students against negotiated SMART targets. To achieve success, we utilise
student-centered and STEAM curriculum delivery approaches, and use the latest technology
including smart TVs, “Apple School” and BOYD systems.
The House System is at the heart of GIA. Each student is allocated a house upon joining
the school. The house is a central social space for the students; students and staff
will bond over meals, a whole series of enrichment programs, and within & inter-house
competitions. In this safe and positive environment, students will develop good habits
and outstanding camaraderie.
I firmly believe that GIA is one of the rare places in Chengdu where students can
develop holistically and academically and, at the same time, have a fantastic time.
I look forward to welcoming your sons and daughters.
